Our roots
01 The beginning
My name is Laushana, and I started my journey as an esthetician in 2019.
Early on, I noticed a significant gap within the skincare industry: a lack of inclusivity.
Many products and treatments are developed with a focus on Western European skin types, leaving a large group of people underserved and unseen.
If it does not exist, I will create it myself.
02 The turning point
After earning my diploma and opening my own salon, one thing became clear to me:
That is how Saene was born.
03 More than skincare
Saene is more than skincare. It is a statement. A movement towards inclusivity, confidence, and choosing yourself.
04 Why the name Saene?
The name Saene holds deep personal meaning.
When searching for a name that truly resonated with me, I thought of my younger brothers, who mean everything to me.
Saene reflects that love by using their names as an inspiration and a reminder, but also something bigger: to show them that you do not have to wait for something to exist, you can create it yourself.
05 Where it comes from
As the daughter of two immigrants from Curaçao, I carry their strength and resilience with me. Through their hard work and sacrifices, I have been given the opportunity to build and create freely. Those are the roots from which Saene has grown.
06 Recognised in 2024
In 2024, that craft was recognised when I was named one of the Netherlands’ top ten young beauty specialists at the Skills the Finals. It is a milestone I carry with pride, and it is the same care and precision that goes into every Saene product.
